Almansa Castle

The origins of the Castle date back to the end of the 11th century, although its profile must have been very different from the current one, and could have been a watchtower or a fortified enclosure similar to a small citadel, and it is possible that the oldest existing walls at levels lower ones are from this time. Around the first half of the 13th century, from 1242 to 1244, the infante Don Alfonso, future Alfonso The Castle and Villa de Almansa are part of the limits of the Crown of Castile.

Church of the Assumption

The Church of the Assumption is the result of several construction stages, from the 16th to the 19th century, which allows you to admire elements of all the artistic styles present in that period: Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo and Neoclassical. The work of a new church was due to the increase in the population that the town had in those years. The initial date of construction was April 30, 1524. That day, the Bishop of Cartagena indicated the land where the new church would go, but the site was owned by D. Alonso de Pina, who gave it up after a long series of protests. .

Almansa Reservoir

It is one of the most representative places in our city, due to its environmental and heritage wealth. The exploitation and use of water, as a source of wealth, along with other natural resources that are generated in its environment, has led to the settlement of human communities since Prehistory.

The routes that run through the entire area allow you to get closer to the flora and fauna characteristic of this lake environment, the reservoir dam itself, or one of the oldest archaeological sites in the town, the Cerro del Pantano.

The Museum has a copy of the painting that Filippo Pallotta and Buonaventura Ligli made between 1707 and 1709 on behalf of Philip V. The Vitorero, a local historical figure or the Commemorative Monuments, which have followed one another in the city at the pace of the historical evolution of our country, are some of the elements that are offered during the visit. Some historical pieces on loan from the Toledo Army Museum and various material collected from the scene of combat are on display. Along the route, the visitor has several information points with interactive screens. The visit concludes with a spectacular audiovisual.

City hall

It was built in the last quarter of the 16th century by order of Alfonso de Pina, a notable member of the Almansa nobility. It is unknown who its builders were, although a certain relationship can be found with the work of the Jaén architect Francisco del Castillo, one of the main exponents of Spanish mannerism.

The Ximén de Pina family, whose origins date back to the Aragonese knights who accompanied King Jaime I in the conquest of the kingdoms of Valencia, settled in Almansa in the 15th century, with Alfonso Pina being the first owner of the Casa Grande.
